Drug Uses
This drug should be used to cure fungous contagions (e.g., tinea pedis).
How Taken
The drug should be applied on the infected surface of the skin for a period of 4 weeks daily. Make sure that the applied surface of the skin is clean and not wet. After this you may apply the drug on the skin in the amount enough to cover the infected part and a small part of the neighboring area. You may also cover the treated surface of the skin by a bandage but you should co-ordinate this action with your doctor first. Having applied the medication, do not forget to wash your hands. Make sure you apply the drug during the whole cure period. It is important to pay attention to the fact that large amounts of the medicine should not be used. It is advised to use the drug more frequently in small amounts or not use it at all especially without the approval of your doctor. You should now that cessation of application may lead to relaps of the illness. If you do not feel any improvement in four weeks time, you should consult your doctor.
Drug Class and Mechanism
This medicine is a good fungusproof drug. It is important to know that this medicine is also related to other fungusproof drugs (e.g., naftifine, terbinafine). because of its structure. The definite way Mentax acts is not determined so far. As a variant scientists consider it to activate itself by changing cellular membranes, which leads to increased penetrability of the membranes. Despite the fact that the definite way Mentax acts is not determined yet, scientists suggest that it its activity may be the result of ergosterol synthesis intervention. Mentax is said to interfere with sterol biosynthesis by means of inhibiting the enzyme squalene monooxygenase. It leads to dropping number of sterols and increase of squalene in the cells as a result. Just like allylamine derivatives, this drug impacts sterol biosynthesis much earlier than imidazole derivatives do.
Missed Dose
When it happens so that you miss a dose of this drug you should use it as soon as you have the opportunity. In case too much time passed and you should akready take the next dose just skip the one you missed and keep to your original schedule. You must not take double dose in any case.
Storage
The drug should be stored in a dry cold place with an average temperature of 41-86 degrees F (5-30C). Keep it away from light and children.
Warnings/Precautions
Make sure your doctor allows you to take this drug, because it may not suit you due to your illnesses or other drugs you might be taking. It is not advised to take Mantaz while being pregnant as the drug might be present then in your breast milk.
Possible Side Effects
To the possible side effects belong itching, pricking, reddening, eruptions, irritation, tumors. If one of the abovementioned takes place you should see a doctor immediately. Also in case something else not enlisted happens, you should consult your doctor.
